firewire communication problems

I have just upgaded from protoolsle 6.1 to pro tools le 6.4 for the digi002 rack on windows xp. All of a sudden, protools cannot open because it cannot locate the digidesign hardware. When I look at my digi002 rack, the 1394, firewire light is going off then back on randomly, thereby stopping any protools session I am in. I purchased a new firewire cord but the same problem keeps happening. What have you guys done to fix this, and what should I do? I already spent alot of money five months ago purchasing this pro tools digi002 rack and other studio equipment. This sucks. Do I need to send my digi002 rack in for servicing?

I wonder if it is the power harness? If the 002r makes constant clicking sounds, that would be a yes.
