Default Re: Would you buy a 003 now?

The m-box 2 pro is a nice piece of gear but it doesn't have the inputs I need unfortunately.

No doubt I would go with an RME but I don't have that kind of cash and won't for a long time. I have to get back in business now.

I'm thankful my trusty old 001 still works like a champ, and I wish that there was a way I could get it to work with PT10. If it weren't for the features of the newer versions of PT, I wouldn't even be worried about this at all. I have a perfectly good recording system and I don't intend on getting rid of it, but there are a multitude of things that will not work with my old hardware and software.

Like albee, my money gear will be going into the optical in's anyway.

Unfortunately there are no working asio drivers for 003..
I've been waiting for those since july 2010..
So pt 10 might indeed be the last version 003 will ever work with.

I own a 003r and got the Black Lion Audio Signature modification on it. I absolutely love it and would be the last thing in my set up I would want to replace. I did buy PT10, but I have re installed Pro tools 9.0.6 as things always ran nice and smoothly with that version. Not sure about PT10 yet. I am on Lion 10.7.3 and things seem to be fine. I have my snow leopard installer CD and all my software backed up, so I have an exit strategy in place!!

just noticed this is a windows forum, so not sure if there is a big difference in compatibility with 003 and pro tools in windows, shame if there is because I think the 003r is a great piece of kit. Worth more than any PT upgrade unless it delivers something seriously more spectacular than 9 or 10.

I replaced my 002R Black Lion Mod with a Focusrite LS56. Despite all the negative posts here, my LS56 is working great. I'm using the TI firewire chipset on my motherboard, with the legacy firewire drivers (clearly stated in the LS56 install instructions for Win 7 64 bit OS). The clock/converters/pres sound great. I'm using LS56 pres for ch 1-4, outboard pres patched line-in ch 5-8, and 8 more via ADAT. My 002R BLA is still in use for remotes with a HP i7-quadcore laptop and a SIIG Express Card for firewire. Sonically, the LS56 and the 002R BLA are about the same - both sound great. I have not tried PT10, as 9.0.3 is working well for me. My 2 cents.

My 003r has been doing great, with VSL/VEP for 64 bit VIs and use of ram, I wasn't even going to upgrade right away when PT's finaly gets around to 64 bit. But I just noticed that Waves now has 64 bit available! (Have'nt checked my email for a while, or any thing else as far as that goes). So,, might be interested to at least look at what they have to offer,,,,, IF!!?? I'm still on 9, 10 doesn't seem to have anything for me? Mike
