I really like my BLA SIG 003R and it works great with PT10. I am good for a while but it's a shame Avid is dropping support on the venture into 64 bit land. I'll either be staying on PT10 for the rest of my life or looking to a third party interface, moving to HDX is unlikely to be an option.

Is there any chance of the 003R working with ASIO4ALL since future PT versions are indicated to be ASIO compliant?

Apparently it's not just a question of drivers for some of the legacy products but how the control is handled within them. DTS had explained some of it in an other thread.

I read his comments about control surfaces etc and understand that, just hoping the 003R might differ as it doesn't need to communicate as such.

I do have an LS56 which would work but the BLA unit is very nice, I'd hate to not have it available when 64 bit arrives.

Any word on hardware exchange for the 003? I could see trading for an Mbox3 Pro or whatever new interface might be coming our way.

I feel there are many here that have a budget ceiling of around $2K-$3K that would jump on something like this from Avid.

Although lately I seem to do a lot of mobile projects that require me to take my 003+ rack and a laptop to various churches etc. for choir tracking.

I did it once as a favor, now I am getting requests all over the place. No good deed goes unpunished I reckon. Just kidding there.

Actually 003 has ASIO drivers.. but they just don't work.. Since July 2010 :)
i really hope they will fix this issue.. once and for all. Though if it's been discontinued, then it's unlikely..

I'd hate our 003 to become an expensive paper weight when we switch to pt 11.

I'm right in there with you, Cloud9. With a perfectly functioning 002R & PTools 9.0.3(.5 w/Lion), there's just no reason to spend $300 on PTools 10, as I'll be needing a new interface when PTools 11 comes out. So, a year or so of sticking with my current rig, then the jump...

hypothetically, if there were to be a successor to the 002/003, who would be in the market for the euphonix (aka artist series) controllers? avid doesn't want competing product lines.

i suppose that avid could duct tape an mbox3 pro to an artist mix and call it an 004 but which market would that serve? it wouldn't make any sense.

if you had an 002/003 before and want to upgrade your hardware...well that's easy. that's an mbox pro + an artist series controller.

and if you don't feel that you need a controller...don't buy one. just buy what ever flavor of mbox3 that suits your needs.

avid has done plenty wrong but in terms of restructuring and clearly defining the "LE" hardware product line, they've done a really good job.

everything that you could need for the lower-end ("LE") market is already here...buy what you need.

regards,
marco

Although the PMIO is a year older than the 003. So, hard to say at the very least.
I have never seen M-Audio gear and Avid/Digidesign gear as equals, definetely not like pontiac / oldsmobile.....

M-Audio products, though Im sure have worked fine for many users, has always been problematic and very cheap to me. Midi interfaces, pedals, and about every other M-audio accesory I've purchased, just doesnt stand up to the task. Even 3 nights ago playing live, an M-Audio sustain pedal just crapped out in mid piano solo. I just started laughing to myself, saying, "it serves you right for buying this crap".

I really hope that Avid doesnt just let the "lower end" slip and be handled by M-Audio (terrible that I am now lower end, I thought I was mid level with my 002). If they do, I will keep the software, but not the hardware. I will be going third party for sure.

Im STILL waiting for a interface / control surface...... replacing 002, 003.

In the meantime, I coulnt wait until NAMM, over the weekendI purchased a Presonus Central Station Plus and a Furman HDS-6 along with mixer.....this to take care of my monitor, talkback, headphone distro needs...
