I can't tell you how many times I've seen the "I'm recording to a partition on my system drive, and it USED to work fine, but now it doesn't" line on here. That is all too typical behavior for a system that isn't set up according to the recommendations. ALL of em!
Now, whether this solves your particular problem or not remains to be seen, but the point is to first make sure your system meets ALL the requirements. Eliminate the variables. You've spent HOW much so far? And a qualified hard drive might only be another 75 bucks.
All good advice.
I think ultimately there is a problem with this driver though as people with Digi approved systems still have grief with it.
But you are right, too many people don't take Digi's recommendations to heart and blame PT for their troubles.

Just tested our other system.
p4 3.2 / 3 gig ram / asus mobo intel 875P chipset / TI firewire / dedicated audio drives without raid / digi 003 rack

clean windows - ptle 8 full - 8.0.4 upd - dv toolkit - pro tools is working ok, asio in nuendo 4 / nuendo 5 is garbled.

will leave 8.0.4 installed there though, because we have ssl mixtreme for asio in that studio...

Have any of you tried the 'Run As Administrator' suggestion with Nuendo or whichever ASIO application you're using?

Also, have you done any of the other General Troubleshooting steps - disabled network adaptor, system services and startup items, etc?

It is the same for me also, luckily I have never had any problems with any Pro Tools update. But this update screwed me completely had to fully install Pro Tools 8 and will have to stay with 8.0.3 until this Asio thing is fixed Running qualified XP system

Yes have tried the workarounds but this is definately an installer issue. No problem before installer just problems after 8.0.4 installer like most others on here. Hurry up and fix this please Thank you

Avoid 8.0.4 if you need asio.. And avoid win7 if you need direct monitoring.
I need both, so i'm using previous drivers with winxp.
Still waiting for updated drives..

That advice should be published on the 8.0.4 Downloads page!

We having the same issue. Just done a fresh complete install on 5 PC's running win xp sp3 and PT 8.0.4.

Cubase is screwed when using the Avid Digidesign 002 FW.
MIDI side of things are fine even when instruments are routed through the DIGI 002RK.

Have changed the driver to the Full Duplex and selected 002RK. sound is fine but the latency is ridiculous.

Can we just roll back the ASIO driver to 8.0.3 but keep using PT 8.0.4?
