Default Pro Tools 8 and Logic Pro: Either/Or?

Hi Guys,

I need serious help:

This is my current setup:

Pro Tools HD 2 System, Version 8.0.1
1 HD Core Card
1 HD Accel Card
Digidesign 96i Audio interface
Digidesign Midi i/o

Dual 2Ghz, Power PC G5
OS 10.5.8
8Gb Ram
Processor: Power PC 970 (2.2)

512 L2 Cache
1Ghz bus speed
Dual 20" Apple Cinema Displays

I am at a serious crossroad.
My system is old, borderline obsolete and sadly, prevents me from having the desire to produce music.

I need some solid advice on the best way to move forward so I can start writing and recording music again.
I’d like to upgrade to a new Mac Pro and Logic Pro (and still be able to use PT if possible) but I’m wondering if I can/should:

1. use my existing Pro Tools hardware with Logic?

2. Sell the entire Pro Tools system and start from scratch with a new Mac Pro and Logic Pro 9

Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated especially from those who have extricated themselves from the same or similar predicament.

Thanks,

Peter
