Distorted sound (intermittent) on playback

I used to get this using a M-Audio Delta 1010L and M-Powered 8 (full version) If your talking a slight distortion in the audio, and not a blast of deafening white noise. What fixed it for me was to disable C1E in the computer BIOS. Google C1E and what it does and if you can disable it on your computer. Also make sure your processor is set for 100 % min/max. You can find a lot of useful information Here. That info would pertain to any DAW no matter the scale.

Still getting distortion after about 3 min of playback.
(tunes playback OK on Itunes)

4 gig ram
Intel core i5 2.27 hz M-430
100G HD, 18G free
External HD 350G....session files run from here.

No strange alterations from stock.

Short tunes (sessions), 4 tracks, no fancy effects, etc.

Is there some sort of update version for Pro Tools se?
It certainly appears others are getting the same distortion (white noise, static)....tho I haven;t read about any solid resolve.

have external 500g HD attached, sessions run from this.

Note: sessions (tunes) run fine on Itunes.

I had badly distorted sound on playback Mbox 2 Mini- crackling sound like somebody flicking through a deck of cards. This was cured by setting the Setup>Playback Engine>Hardware Buffer Size = 2048 Samples. My OS is Windows 7 64 bit, Proc is Intel i7.

My Setup:
Dell Inspiron 1525
Win Xp Pro sp3
Intel core duo 2.00Ghz
3 Gig Ram
7200 rpm internal Hard Disk
M-audio Fast Track & Fast Track Pro(latest drivers from M-audio web site)

rvss3ll, in Protools Se we don't have the option to change the buffer like in Mpowered. Le, or PT9 we only have an option that does it for us to a set amount, but changing it doesn't help.
