Default trick to automating altiverb?

Hi All,
Started working with altiverb lately and I'm having trouble automating it. Impulses seem to be lost. I'm putting PT 8.0.3 into preview, changing altiverb, and punching it in. On playback, it doen't stick and always seems to reset to the last impulse and settings used. Any help here would be great.
Thanks,
Brandon

I still don't understand. I read the link. OK it says to automate in touch mode. I usually work in touch/latch so the plug in is in latch but pro tools does not change to write or anything after a pass. I usually work with altiverb in preview. Find the impulse and send level and roll back before the region, hit punch preview, then adjust the volume while listening to it. At the end of the show, I should have a bunch of impulse changes as well as predelay and such. Seems altiverb isn't changing at all and the last impulse and setting of the plug in is replayed throughout all automation changes. I know it can be done but I'm not sure how.
Thanks again,
Brandon

Speakerphone 2 and automation

Sorry, this was the link I meant to give you, and I think you can use the same approach with Altiverb. Just a thought...

I don't have it myself, but was with a friend who is a film mixer at "a large UK film studio" who does use it. He puts no parameters into automation except the snapshot recall. Seems to work for him...

cheers

I've been able to succesfully automate Altiverb on both PTLE and PTHD. But I only enable "automation preset index", and nothing else. So I just move between presets throughout the show. It works, it's solid, you just have to allow a couple of seconds for IR load time, so I alternate between A and B Altiverbs on each stem.

Also, this method steps around a bug: http://www.audioease.com/cgi-bin/for...1254491701/3#3

Let us know what works.

Best,

Thanks for the tip. I'll post back when I find out more. Really looking forward to working with AV without printing it.

Just automating the resets works. Thanks all. I find it a little easier just to leave the preset automation lane open and just move through them with a mouse.
