Beat Detective and Identify Beat

I'm not understand the difference between the Beat Detective (BD) and the Identify beat (IB)commands and when you use which and what for. According to the manual, you would use IB when you're working with an audio file not recorded to a click track or of unknown tempo, which is exactly what I have. I've imported an MP3 file of a simple song. I want to add tracks and stuff, but first I want to get the measures to line up to the beat/tempo. The piece is in 6/8 time.

So how do I use BD or IB or both to accomplish this? I can't figure out from just following the manual.

You can use both to accomplish what you need, but for such a simple task, you really only need Identify Beat.

Did the video I linked you to in your other thread not help at all? It covers the basics of using identify beat.
