Reference guide...PT can't find it.

I've downloaded the Reference guide for PTLE 7.3.1 but PT can't locate it when I try to open it with the Help menu during a session. Where should it reside so PT can find it?

This is a problem with 7.3 with the help menu not working. you should still be able to acess the manual from Start>Digidesign>Documentation. It's the same PDF the help menu links to.

If you are on a Mac, the PDF needs to have the correct name (rename it if you downloaded just the reference guide by itself), and reside in this location:
/Applications/Digidesign/Documentation/Pro Tools/Pro Tools Reference Guide.pdf

The Pro Tools 7.3 Documentation Installer for Host-based Systems (Mac OS X) should also install the reference guide and other documentation to the correct location:

You do realize this does absolutely nothing to fix the problem that the pull down help menu's simply do not work in either Windows or Mac systems in 7.3? I've installed this update on both platforms and it simply does not solve the problem. Although it does drop the Documents into the appropriate folders.

Even after running the 7.3 documentation installer for both Mac and PC the Help menus remain greyed out on either platform.

Can we get this figured out? I know SPKGUITAR is having the same problem too.

Can I help in some way?

This fix DID work for me in 7.1 FWIW.

I only have HD installed on my XP partition and the paths are the same.

I have all of those PDFs In the same paths as yours on my MAC.

Semi stupid Question? Are the files you listed in those paths on the Mac the only files in those folders? I have a slew of other plug-in PDFs in the "Plug-in" Folder and the same is true of the "Protools" folder. Should I clean every thing out but the Shortcut Guide/Menu Guide/FAQ ETC?

Okay, Now their back on my MAC. They where NOT there the other day.

They are definatly not on my XP box.

And I've run the installer at least two times plus rather painstakingly checked the paths agains both partitions of my other DAW that's running 7.1 flawlessly.

To many computers.....

Back to check my XP box. But the hey the Macs fixed!

I'd smile if my foot wasn't in my mouth.

I wonder if the Combo update somehow straightend somthing out? Seems pretty unlikely though...

Well I just downloaded the 7.3 LE installer for the Nth time. I tried Modify, I tried Complete, I tried completely unistalling, I rebooted, I reinstalled. and under XP home the documentaion installer is still not working. The Documents are there on the drive-you can pull them up from the Start menu from the Start>All Programs>Digidesign>Documentation. But you cannot pull them up from PTs help menu-they are still grayed out.
