Default Turn on/off phantom power without destroying mic

I know there is a correct way to do this. I usually plug the mic cable in to the preamp and then switch on the phantom power. When should I turn off the PP without damaging the mic? Before disconnecting the mic cable or after? I would assume before but I have to ask this basic question. Thanks.

Turn it off before you disconnect the mic cable.

I've never had a mic fail from hot-plugging but if you do-make sure the channel is muted as the POP can blow tweeters.

[bleep], I had no idea. I`ve been hot-plugging mics for years without losing them. SA for tweeters, I´ve had some almost-****ups.. More careful nowadays
