49 audio files.....gone!!!

Hi: I went to load a session today and got a surprise. The 49 audio files were not there. It took me to an option where I can search for the audio links, which I did fine, but for some reason they are on drive c. My audio files are allocated to Drive E which is an external drive. Is there any setting I can change in the workspace for either C or E to find these files again. I have no clue as to why this happened. Any help would be great!! I have even done a restore. Amy suggestions for backup would be helpful.
