Thanks Allen and djspl !

The problem is, I don't seem to find any regular Ati Radeon 9600 over here in Spain. I could get the pro or Xt but both have fans and cost a 100€ and 130€. I could go with the SVGA 128MB ATI RADEON 9600SE DDR for 72,34€ but it has 64 bit memory on it.
Are there any other affordable video cards that have been proven to work with the digi001? it would be great if they also have the DVI out for future dual monitor possibilities.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Guido.
You can use the last one.

look for 128 bit 9550s.

You could go with the 64 bit 9600SE. It keeps up with the 128 bit Nvidia FX5200, which a lot of people use.

Even a 128 bit 9250 would run Pro Tools just fine. I was going to get one until I found a refurbished 9600 for cheap. In the U.S. 9250s are the same price as cards made 2 years ago so I wasn't going to consider anything less.

Check benchmarks...

Allen ... i just read again the first page of THE BEST DESKTOPS

so after selling the complete Athlon64 that i have.. i still have an Athlon xp3000 with asus A7V600-X.... (yes i know it's pretty old...but it's supposed to work).... so i need to know if there is something special about the bios to make it work with the M-box..

You know...DIGI suport says... 2it's not our problem because the M-box works... and if your computures don't work with it it's your problem"

PD: could it be ... that the both processors were bad....although they never failed with other programs???

If you hooked it up to another Mbox 0r 002 and reproduced the issue, then it is your problem. How about just taking it to a computer expert near you and have him trouble shoot it for you? It's probably something as simple as a bad power supply. Did you try an APC power conditioner?

FX 57 isn't due out to the public until this summer. Stick with the mobile AMD 64 3400 on the DFI 250GB nF3 Lan Party board. See the thread labeled as ..........Matt for more info. This is the best thing going right now.
All the parts can be bought from www.newegg.com

it appears that the A8V Deluxe with BIOS 1009 has a fair amount of overclocking potential, in this instance at least.

i built a system last week for a client on a tight budget so we recycled as much as possible from his old system. the only new parts were an A8V Deluxe motherboard, S939 Athlon 64 3000+ and 1GB Corsair 3200CL2 TwinX RAM.

i usually send systems out with default BIOS timings to maximise reliability but we decided to see how far we could push this one as some fairly hefty mix-in-the-box sessions are on the horizon. it appears the processor is unlocked! with all voltages and frequencies at their default setting, it boots and runs perfectly reliably at 12x, or 2400mHz. the temp idles at 28C and peaks at 38-39C with PTLE doing 32+24 (PTLE 6.4, digi001), 32+32 in 5.3.1. the temp and stability were great with any other CPU intensive app, such as DivX encoding, Doom3 or SiSoft Sandra on continuous CPU/RAM benchmark.

in addition to increasing the multiplier, the system runs with the same rock solid stability by leaving the miltiplier at 9x and increasing the FSB to 267mHz so i guess that means the same could be achieved with locked 3000+ processors. the BIOS automatically adjusts the RAM divider so it stays at 200mHz and the PCI/AGP is locked to 33.3/66.6mHz respectively.

whilst this is relatively extreme overclocking with somewhat unpredictable long term effects, i just thought some of you might be interested is all.

as an aside, the system does 32+8 in 6.4 with all default settings.
