PS - I understand where Bill's coming from.

Pro Tools Optimizations currently advise temporarily disabling Antivirus and Firewall protection, as well as disabling both Wireless Bluetooth and Network adapters.

Does this mean if I go online to collaborate, I won’t be getting Pro Tools performing “at its best”?

I'm obviously missing something, as the new "Avid Everywhere" encourages online collaboration.

If you weren't meant to minimise it, it would be quite simple for them to just remove the minimise button from the UI. Very trivial to achieve. Always worked absolutely fine in the past. It's just a bug, plain and simple.

You have to remember that both Pro Tools and "Avid Everywhere" are both Avid products...

Consequently, Avid can code (or recode) as required to have their stuff make nice with each other.

But they can't modify other folk's programs to make them work with with Avid's products.

Bit of a "duh" question, don'tcha think?

I do not work for Avid (their loss)...my only relationship with Avid is that of a customer (when I'm not too poor to buy stuff, like now)...and that hot administrative assistant...that's more of a "thing" than a "relationship" (that should keep them guessing for a while...)

Just rockin'...what more is there?

What about Re-Wire? That is running a separate non Avid program, say Reason or Ableton. If you instantiate as an insert they launch independently of ProTools. Honestly the only reason not to run other apps years ago when doing video (especially) or audio was available CPU cycles. (It's a reason why I can't access a game console's (Xbox 360/PS3) audio processing capabilities via a game engine because the CPU cycles needed to run a game.) Since the Gigahertz plus processors of the early 2000's this has not been an issue.

Optimization is one thing. The reason for optimization is to free up CPU cycles and under-the-hood background tasks that may cause conflicts or other potential conflicts (like shared commands for things like Spotlight) but I have run ProTools on many a non-optimized machine without issue.

I use a Bluetooth mouse. Have since the Mighties. I have always had my PT machine connected to a network, which earlier on was against recommendation (if it still is then it is contradictory to taking advantage of Avid Everywhere which not only includes online collaboration, but Marketplace, etc.). I've had to run a C24's ethernet connection through a network. Optimizations are recommendations, not hard and fast rules. And honestly I have had few ProTools problems until PT11 which appears to be an utter mess. Every time they "fix" one issue it spawns 3 other problems that kill somebody's workflow. Looks like 11.3 is breaking Thunderbolt HDX connectivity. Man this is getting rinky dink.

Avid Everywhere is a concept, not a product.
