Default 3rd Party Apps Don't Launch Core Audio

My Core Audio app has stopped launching automatically when a third party audio app like iTunes calls it.

Does anyone have any idea what has happened here?

Regards,

John

It's unlikely that this will work properly in Leopard, as there are issues with the Core Audio driver that need to be fixed. You'll need to manually launch the Core Audio manager before launching the application you want to have use core audio...

Thanks for the reply, Digi,

But even if I launch core audio manager first and correctly assign the output in Sound Prefs, the audio won't play. The weird thing is that it was working fine up to a couple of days ago, when it just stopped working.

Regards,

John

mine is
pt8.0cs2 digi 002rack
osx 10.5.6
imac 2.1ghz ppc g5
2.5 g ram

core audio only works in pt8
regardless of whether 002 is on at boot or off at boot.
when i try to change to digidesign hardware in my audio midi setup
it allows me to change from built in audio to digidesign hardware as default
but when i close audio midi setup and reopen audio midi setup the computer is not retaining the output change and opening core audio and making it active does not make any difference either. computer just recognizing built in audio.
all else is going fantastic with pt 8.
thanks

Try this:

Quit out of all open applications.

Trash the following preference files:

1. Mac HD > Users > (Your User Name) > Library > Preferences > com.apple.systempreferences.plist (delete this file)
2. Mac HD > Users > (Your User Name) > Library > Preferences > com.apple.audio.AudioMIDISetup.plist (delete this file)
3. Mac HD > Users > (Your User Name) > Library > Preferences > com.digidesign.CoreAudioManager.plist (delete this file)
4. Mac HD > Users > (Your User Name) > Library > Preferences > ByHost > com.apple.systempreferences.xxxxxxxxxxxx.plist (delete this file)

Empty the trash, restart and let me know if it's working or not.

If that doesn't help, please let me know which drivers you have in the folder located at MacHD>Library>Audio>Plug-Ins>HAL.
