AAE 6101 Error on launch of PT 2023.6

SOLVED!! Avid tech support simply opened DigiTest and "looked" at my HDX card. After that HD Driver 2023.6 works like a charm - Go Figure


I'm getting a AAE 6101 Error on launch of PT 2023.6. I reverted to HD driver 2023.3 and all is well.

Something is amiss with HD driver 2023.6 on Intel MacOS 12.6.6

So they only started Digitest ? Can you describe what they were exactly doing ? Digitest didn´t find an error on my hdx system

It was kind of a mystery for both myself and the tech. I first just did a standard in place update from PT/HD Driver .3 to .6 via Avid Link. That's when I got the error on PT launch. I suspected an HD driver install issue since there is a history of that. Prior to calling, I had used the standalone HD driver installers to toggle back and forth between HD Driver .3 and .6 by uninstalling and re-installing each. I did this at least four times for each version. In all cases, 'PT 2023.6/HD Driver 2023.6' errored and 'PT 2023.6/HD Driver 2023.3' worked fine.

With Avid support, they opened DigiTest to confirm what I had in the system. No actual test, just looked at the list of cards and closed DigiTest. Then they again upgraded HD driver to .6 from the installed .3. PT launched the first time and has been solid since. So the ONLY difference from my multiple HD driver .6 attempts was DigiTest being simply opened.

For now I had to go back to 2023.3... too many problems. There's definitely something broken on some systems with the new hd driver

Installed 2023.6 then reverted back to 2023.3 driver. Still not working on my end...

It's where all old downloads are: in your "Download Center" not "My products" of your Avid.com account. The seperate HD Driver installer download is listed right there under Pro Tools 2023.3.
