Question Which buffer size in HD?

Recently I ran into a ADC issue with a plugin because my buffer was at 512. As soon as I lowered it to 256 the ADC being red went away. I'm just wondering what buffer size people with HD are running at. I know you want it low if you are tracking through VI, but what about when mixing

I have the buffersize set to 512 both when tracking and mixing.

Personally I'v become acustomed to track with no latency through hardware monitoring without any plugins.
Lower latency makes timing issues less of a problem for me.

I'd like to use 512 but I just run into that ADC limit problem bummer!

What's everyone else doing

Good question and it kind of related to a post i made in the mac-hd forum.....

First is your ADC in playback engine set to long? b/c 512 seems the most normal setting......

Now my question to you - Do you see any incurred latency by using the Magma chassis? are you using the 32bit backpanel or the 64bit backpanel, and do you use the PCI version host card or the PCIe card.

Have you ever checked latency? Does anyone who has used these know about latency derived from the chassis?

B/C I would like to get one of these (non magma) it's a PCI to PCIe for my mac BUT does it have latency and if so how much????/

Not really a hijack but it kinda deals with your buffer settings as well.....

I'm using the 64 bit magma and I must say there is no difference latency wise that I can tell with using the chassis or not. I highly recommend one of these as they are at a great price at the mo

The PE6R4 has no latency at all. I don't know about the P7R464 though.
