Default ASIO driver won't install

I'm attempting to install the ASIO driver (7.4) so I can try out my 002 rack with Reaper. I've downloaded the standalone driver from the web site but when I try to install it I only get an error message from Windows saying setup.exe encountered a problem and must quit. I don't have Pro Tools installed on this partition of my drive so I think I'm using the right installer. Anyone have any idea's??

I'm running Windows XP SP3.

Are you running dual boot? (two completely separate operating systems on separate drives)

Yes. I've got a dedicated Pro Tools partition. The partition I'm attempting to install the ASIO driver on is on the non-Pro Tools partition. According to the ASIO driver documentation online you should install the download version from the website if you don't have Pro Tools installed.

Just wanted to get that out of the way before we toss this around.

Just a thought, you can run Reaper from the PT side of the drive with the ASIO driver that is installed with PT. Reaper will also rewire in PT. I know this is not what you are trying to do but it may get you rolling in the mean time.

Have you tried removing the PT data base on the Reaper drive?

This is what I'm going to try next... crossing my fingers. I'm running 7.3 and it's been a while since I installed it so I'm not sure if I installed the ASIO driver or not. I thought that it was an optional installation but I could be wrong about that.

Thanks for throwing out some ideas for me.

Well, I got it working on the dedicated Pro Tools partition. Reaper is working great. I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the options and the non-PT language but I at least am able to get a couple tracks recorded and playing back. Now I just need to dive into the manual and see what everyone is talking about.
