Default latency with NI battery

I have just bought NI battery to go with PTF. Everything installed fine and I can monitor and record audio and midi within PTF. My problem arises with the latency in both monitoring, recording and playback. Is this a direct connect problem or something within PTF. Iknow latensy has been discussed before in this forum, but I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has used battery or any other virtual instrument with PTF.
