Default Anyone have experience with PT10HD with HD3 10.6.8?

Was wondering if anyone is running PTHD10 with an original quad core intel 1,1 with 4 gigs of ram, with an HD3 system, blue 192 I/O / Sync I/O / 888's and Control 24 under 10.6.8.

Can anyone tell me if it runs well in that environment as I need to keep that TDM rig for many reasons at least until some critical plug in developers move over to AAX and the new Mac Pro comes out.

Is that CPU up to the task and how about plug in compatibility. I'm currently running PTHD8.04cs2 and it's rock solid.

Thanks for any input!

Hey gordon , I am running protools 10 hd 3 accel , on a 2008 Mac pro 2.8 quad
And since version 7.4 , protools never felt so good , flouent , stable , fast, trustworthy etc.... Os10.6.8 is great , I would not jump to lion cause It is still buggy with PTHD , there is no reason your system won't be rock solid and powerfull , I am not planing to go HDX for at least 3 years.... Let the rest of users be beta testers ... In a few years HDX would be as good as hd TDM , then I'll move. In the meantime- killer system

Thanks for the comeback! Your 2008 Mac Pro only shows up as being a bit faster on the benchmarks I just looked up so maybe I'll be OK with my 2.66 4 core Woodcrest. I'll try the demo and see if it all works with my plugs ins etc.

BTW, did you have to surrender your old license on the upgrade? I need to have my old license in case I need to go back for any reason.

Works great on my 1.1 Mac. I found some really cost effective RAM (I'm sure you're aware how it's much higher normally than the newer MacPros) on Amazon for just under $20 per 2GB stick & took it to 16Gigs = awesome!)

Also, if you've already paid for the exchange but haven't 'surrendered a license' You can surrender any HD license 7.2HD - 9. Whatever you can sacrifice. The 10 License is 4 bundled assets (9, 9HD, 10, 10HD)

Others have noted this elsewhere on the board too. Good luck & All the Best :) Walt

Thanks so much for the input Walt! Really appreciate it. I'll report back once I have time to test the trial.

Gordon- if you do anything, get another 4 to 6 gb of RAM.
