Default Anybody using a MOTU interface with PT 10?

Weighing the options and was interested in the 828 Mk3 as it can handle 30 in and 28 out and has 2 sets of lightpipe IO. I know MOTU has some monitoring software, but my preference would be to simply run PT at the 64 buffer and monitor right from Pro Tools(and use sends to create a few custom headphone mixes). All comments from MOTU users are welcome(good, bad or indifferent).

I use 64 samples buffer without a problem on OS X.

CueMix is pretty easy to use if you want to use it. The driver software also makes setup pretty easy. The MOTU guys are quick to respond to inquiries as well.

I have a 828mk2 at a rehearsal space running with Cubase SX 3 on an old Windows box. Pretty bullet-proof, but set to a high sample buffer (used to track live without any monitoring).

I had to reinstall Pro Tools 10 yesterday to open an old session and was using my UltraLite mk3 at 64 samples to track a new bass track without any hiccups.

MOTU offers pretty good value.

That looks promising. One reason I want to avoid the Cuemix stuff is, unless I am incorrect, it seems like it would make punch-ins somewhat of a pain, vs. running at 64 and doing everything within pro Tools(and having plugins and/or my usual vocal verb working as the singer tracks). Ultimately, I'd like to be able to not change my methods if possible.

You should be fine.

If your workflow is working, don't screw with it. Yesterday I spent about two hours at 96hKz, 24-bit at 64 samples buffer. Not the most complex sessions around, but there were plenty of audio tracks and I even ran it off my laptop drive. My daughter approved.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Cuemix restricted to Macs only at one time?

I've been running the 10 HD software with an 828 mkII FireWire, and it's been great. I usually work with the buffer at 512, but on the few occasions I've gone lower, I haven't had any issues. The CueMix software is really simple and helpful, letting you set up several mixes for headphones or for just patching sound into the speakers when Pro Tools is closed.
