AC3 Decoding
Hello All
Does anyone know how to DECODE AC3 FILE to independent Channels. AIFF, WAVE or SDII any of these formats would be fine. Hardware or Software? Much Thanks Geoff |

Re: AC3 Decoding
Geoff-
the only way to do this is by Re-recording the output of your AC3 decoder whether it be a DVD player or a AV receiver output etc. the reason for this is because this practice is strongly discouraged by Dolby. AC3 is not an ecodable, decodable, re-encodable codec. you will notice artifacting ad serious degredation of your audio if you do so. If you need to encode->decode->re-encode, then i suggest using Dolby E. -Todd A. |

Re: AC3 Decoding
The APack utility that comes with DVD Studio Pro can do this.

Re: AC3 Decoding
As Jeff D. says APack will do it. Just bear in mind what you get out will not be what went in. Artifacts are evident and the levels are certainly MUCH different; alot like coverting mp3's back to AIFF.
Cheers, -Polaris

Re: AC3 Decoding
There is also another app available called mAC3dec. It has a few more output options.
Do a search on Versiontracker for the latest version. |
