do I need a floppy drive to run pt 5.0.1?
I have a PT III system, running on a G4/350. I just installed pt 5.0.1 and it wants me to authorize by diskette... but I have read in a few places that I DONT need a floppy, just the key number. what gives?
I gather some plug-ins are still known require a floppy, but I'd like to deal with that later... |

Re: do I need a floppy drive to run pt 5.0.1?
The Pro Tools v5.0.1 application does in fact authorize with a serial number (no floppy required).
Are you sure you aren't launching from an Alias which might be launching an earlier version (which do require floppy authorization)? Open the Digidesign>Pro Tools folder on your hard drive, Get Info on the PT application to verify it is of version 5.0.1 and then attempt a launch by double clicking the application icon (as opposed from a session or an alias).
