XP not properly installing Mbox 2 driver

I have a Dell Insperon 6400 laptop. Very similar to the e1705, just smaller. 1.6 gig intel core 2 duo processor, 2 gig ram windows XP. I use an Mbox 2.

Been successfully using Pro tools on this machine for a year.

Just did an XP reinstall. When I reinstalled Pro tools, the first time I opened it, everything worked fine.

Now, however, I get an error message telling me that the Mbox driver is not installed. When i reinstall the driver it takes a about 8 min to download, which is an unusually long time, and doesn't work. I've tried this a few times, just to check that I'm doing this right.

I am not a total nube, but I refuse to spend the rest of this gorgeous day trying to figure this out.

Any ideas?

during the original install did you ignore or cancel the windows prompts and allow Digidesin to install the drivers?
