MAC files Transfer to FAT32 FW drive are corrupt
A small local MAC based studio closed down, and one of their clients bought an external FW drive to transfer their files to. These usually come out of the box formatted FAT32, and the MAC will mount these things without a fuss. The problem is the files then become unreadable to both MAC and PC's at this point. The last time this happened, the client was able to go back to the original studio, and re-transfer the files after I had properly formatted the drive for them. This time, the studio moved out of state and it appears that the original files are not in reach.
My question is there a way to get these files to be recognized by either a MAC or a PC at this point? On a MAC, we used to be able to change header info with a utility, and all was well. Does anyone have a procedure that has worked for them? I've messed around a bit trying to import the files into a new test session, but Pro Tools says they are unreadable. On behalf of my client, Thanks! |

Re: MAC files Transfer to FAT32 FW drive are corrupt
The files have been stripped of their resource forks... depending on how the sessions were saved you may be able to open them on an XP system running 6.7 (Email me a session file).
To create WAV files from the (now) raw audio files.. you can use my free app sdTwoWav Rail
