Here's another question.

16 bit or 24 bit? I would think 24, wouldn't you?

One other interesting "Default" issue...As big as Tascam DA-88's were (are?) in the post world, they default to 44.1 when you format tapes.

I always thought that was odd.

DTS can can create an embedded 6 channel surround file at either 44.1 or 48. I have a software encoder available to me that I will bring snips of a program I am working as .wav files, create a couple of surround files of either high drama or troublesome sections, burn it off to a CD and play it out on my surround system at home for additional reference. Of course, this is a software encoder. and there is no picture reference... it's for audio reference only.

Also DTS music titles are 44.1.

We have a DTS hardware encoder in another facility. If anyone is interested, I can check as to it's sample rate compatibility and post back.

I've not dealt with DTS with higher sample rates like 96 or 192.

FWIW.

We do all radio at 44.1 because most of the digital delivery systems will only except this
for trafficing to stations. There is not enough time in the day to resample all the files before
delivery.

All TV and film is done at 48k, unless we get an OMF from an old avid system that comes in at 44.1
