Default Pro Tools 9 native?

Am I getting this right?

A native system is one which doesn't require external hardware running cards and dsp to operate?

So pro tools 9 is now native as can run off the host computer?

Thanks

Yes, this is correct.

Pro Tools LE was always native but required the user to use one of Avid's qualified interfaces. The difference now is that the user can use almost any audio interface.

Have you been able to run PT9 without the mbox2 (or whatever qualified interfaces)? I tried running it but I get "ProTools could not initialize current playback device. Please make sure device has been configured correctly"

Assuming you are running a PC...

You need a sound card that is ASIO compatible. If it is not... ASIO4all may work for you.

Hold 'N' while Pro Tools is starting up. In the Playback Engine, you should be able to select your internal output.
