So further than that, I don't know, we will have to wait until the NAB smoke clears and the actual release date gets closer. If there is anything, I'm sure Avid will post it.

Yeah Blissful, good on ya!

Some guy put an item up on ideascale about 3 years ago, and I added my comments two years ago and then revisited it and commented a little more a few months back.

It currently has 143 votes, which ranks it at number 67 in the charts and it is idea number 77. If anyone fancies raising its profile, feel free to go over and cast your vote.

I don't expect it to see the light of day in PT ... after all, those Avid marketing guys on the webinar last night were mighty proud that MOST of the top 5 or 6 suggestions on ideascale will be implemented in PT11. So an idea ranked at number 67 has absolutely no chance.

And take note Avid .... a Cubase style full featured drum grid editor is something I'd happily pay a tidy upgrade fee for .... unlike the shafting your attempting to pull with upgrades for current Complete Production Toolkit owners!

That would be a benefit of the 64 bit memory model and nothing MIDI per se.

Hey quit spoiling the conjecture with actual facts.

FWIW, Samplitude a few years back hired one dude to specialize in bringing MIDI up to the 21st century. And that seemed to work out pretty well. While it's not up to Logic/Cubase standards, if was a nice addition to a mostly-audio program like PT.

Some years ago Scott Church really tried to push the development of the composition features in PT. Unfortunately he left or had to leave Avid (http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=248914).

After his departure Avid again ignored the further development of the composition tools almost entirely and fell into deep sleep. It's such a pity. I'm missing the functionality of Logic each and every day when composing in PT...

MIDI note names in the piano roll is still my number one wish.
Is it really so hard to implement?

I don't disagree with your statement but its important to note that Avid spent their time adding a tremendous amount of features in 9-10-11. My guess is that now that's out of the way they will be able to focus again on other ares in future releases.

They REALLY need to address MIDI automation.

Why don't they use nodes like Logic? They use it for audio and plugin automation, why not MIDI?

The way they do it now is soooo crude. Trying to do fast automation on things is never smooth.

I'm still using Opcode Studio Vision on a OS9 Mac for Drums/Bass and arranging. Nothing compares to it - its the simple cursor changes depending upon where you grab a note. That and the ability to work in "SubSequences" make it indispensable for me when doing arrangement.

I know at one point a bunch of Opcode guys overhauled the MIDI, but I never saw the magic they created in Vision incorporated into PT.

I'd LOVE to see Vision style editing and arrangement included as an option.

Meanwhile - I keep an old G4 powered up running 1998 code.

+1 on both!!!
