by all reports, the asus p4t is the most stable and by far the fastest for multimedia apps. (check out http://www.tomshardware.com for failrly well balanced reporting) also make sure you get the latest model, p4t-e which uses socket 478 instead of socket 423. socket 423 is being dropped by intel, so the fastest processor it'll support is 2ghz. 478 is billed at 3ghz+. personally i'd advise to stay clear of amd for protools. they can be a real pain if your not a supergeek.

cheers

Rockit, quite the opposite, I'd dump Intell for AMD. I've never had a problem with my 1.33 and I'm hardly tech savy.

many people agree with you. but i hear of many others who have no end of problems. usually just configuation issues but some buy a mainboard with an ali chipset and have no luck. i guess thourough research is the key. in my opinion if you're spending almost as much on a p4/athlon system as you would to buy a g4, go out and get the g4. but then this discussion is about the most stable paltform for the pentium 4 and that would seem to be the asus p4t-e, as mentioned earlier
