Talking Non-stop DAE Errors 9473 and 9073

Hi, I have been experiencing an incredible amount of errors 9473 and 9073 during playback and I'm just about to go out of my mind. It's been happening for months- even after bringing my computer back to factory settings and reinstalling Pro Tools. At this point, I don't think 20 seconds goes by without playback stopping and getting the 9473 error message- and then randomly it will be 9073. Sometimes it's literally almost every time I press a button- so maybe 3 stops in 10 seconds.

To be specific, there's two different ways it stops: the worst one actually doesn't show the error- it simply freezes everything (volume meters, etc) for a SOLID 10-15 seconds, whiting out the screen if I touch anything and does not respond. That usually happens when I do a physical action- like hitting the space bar or any edit at all. The other one just stops playback abruptly and flashes one of those two errors.

It's unbelievably frustrating and nothing online seems to be able to answer it appropriately.

I have all buffers and cache size maxed out.

I've tried eliminating the variables: rebooting the computer and reinstalling Pro Tools, getting an external hard drive and working off of it (Seagate 5200rpms), changing computer settings to all Avid.com advised settings for maximizing performance, etc- but absolutely nothing works. It doesn't matter if it's a brand new session- it seems the moment I start using elastic audio or stock plug-ins (I have no plug-ins, etc that didn't come with Pro Tools LE 8.0), the torture begins.

Is it Windows 7? The fact that it's 64 Bit? That I connect the Mbox (and hard drive) with a USB chord?

There HAS to be a solution and I'm willing to do anything to stop it.

PLEASE HELP....I'm dying.
