Default quicktime and feature length projects?

i'm about to begin post sound on a dv feature. i'm in need of suggestions on working with a broken up quicktime. (as an eighty minute quicktime is not possible, i believe) any suggestions or guidance on the best way to handle this would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

You're quite right about not being able to digitize 80 min worth of video, the problem being the Mac OS file size limit of 2 gig.I find I can digitize about 19 min of video on my fuse card at 1.5 meg/sec. If the show is longer (always) I just find a logical point near the 19 min mark, and begin the next capture. When importing the new movie, I simply spot it to the same timecode on the window burn. It's sort of a drag to have to import a new movie every 19 min., but I can see no other way.

Can you import more than one movie in PT5? (Can't be done in 4.x.)

You actually can use movies bigger than 2 gig (os9 may support this already, can't remember). If the OS can't do it, you can combine multiple QT movies into a single one, just when you save the QT movie, use the "save normally (allowing dependencies)" option instead of "make self contained". Bingo.

Actually, I believe that with Adobe Prmiere 5.1 c, you can in fact create QT files that are larger than 2 GIG's. It automatically "pieces" together multiple 2 gig files... I have not tried it my self since at the moment I am working on half hour shows, but check it out with Adobe. I think you will get it to work!
CIAO and good luck.
