Default The future...

... is telling me I have to start planning to replace my beloved PC 16 channels, like some of you. My two concerns are : fader resolution (10bit, 1024 steps) and compatibility and support with future releases of PT.
Possibly I'd like to have at least 16 faders, but this is not vital.
Beyond D-Command and D-Control and the big Euphonix systems (out of my budget) what are the control surfaces that satisfy these two requisites ?
- C24 (will still be supported ? Is 1024 ? Plus, I don't need those pre's...) ?
- Artist series (they say they're noisy and not high quality built) ?
What else ?
I'm also looking at non-Avid solutions, like :
SSL Matrix (but it looks like the software can write automation with the faders in PT but not follow the automation written in PT, it's a feature that SSL calls "A-FADA" and it seems to be implemented in the AWS Series only, which are great but far out of my budget) ?
Focusrite 2802 (but I think it's still on HUI/Midi) ?

Basically I need an accurate controller, all other features could be "external" (like accurate monitoring system, summing, etc.)

Thank you for your advice in advance

stv

are you saying the D-Com and D-Con are out of your budget or just the big S5
there is the S5 Fusion at not much more than the D-Con

I think everything else is 8 bit HUI protocol

My budget range would be in the 5-10k area

I'm with Steve. I'm hoping something new comes along. I just want 8 great faders. The D-Command faders IMHO don't feel as good as PC, and I don't want a scribble strip any less than 8 characters.

Don't need any analog monitoring section. Just 8 great faders, and some robust transport buttons.

Avid - are you listening?

I just went from a pro control to a artist mc mix and control. I actually really like the mc mix and control. I do think the pro control is faster for somethings but the artist is very good too. Bonus for me is they are really small. I'm also still learning them but I would say they are a good replacement for the pro control.
