Default Who cares about smokeless - look at the MIC

I saw this on CNN today and thought man that has to be sounding GOOD live. Who would have thought to use a big MORTAR of a mic live.

Talk about picking up the band.

MAN!

Sheesh...

I'd hate to have to clean that mic after a concert. Of course after a few shows the buildup probably adds some "color", maybe takes care of some of the bleed as well...

That mic would probably be a feedback nightmare live. They probably put a 58 capsule in it (just kidding). What about the brown goo dripping from it when she sings with her mouth full of dip? Mmmm.... Sexy... It takes a special woman to like the taste of chewing tobacco on her man's lips when she kisses him.

LDC are great live, i would never use one for vocals though. how many touring bands use LDC on guitar amps, infact there is an artical sitting here about 'the killers' in the june edition of Live Sound magazine and they use KSM32s on guitars. ive had good results with a LDC on a bass amp (highly compressed bass) and huge success with NT3s for live vocals, i made sure the pop filter was always on

I saw Elvis Costello and Emmylou Harris a couple of weeks ago, and they did this for a couple of songs.
