I'm with sunburst79: I'd be extremely surprised if you saved any money by purchasing a mainboard from Avid.

And what if the problem isn't in the mainboard... then what?

If you took your dead unit to a tech, he'd at least (theoretically) be able to make the correct diagnosis and get the part you need. But he's still going to have to get the part from Avid and add his markup plus bench costs.

Save yourself some aggravation and just buy a new unit without PT while they're still plentiful.

It's unfortunate, but this kind of gear really isn't designed to be serviced economically.
