Unhappy Error -9129 when using midi beat clock

Hello -

I have been trying to track out my sequences from my Korg Triton Extreme for weeks without luck. After much research and not finding any help, I am going to hope someone here can help.

Here's the problem, I have my triton hooked up to my sony vaio laptop via usb which is running protools 7.4 on a windows vista OS.

My protools system seams to run pretty smoothly until check my triton to receive protools midi beat clock in pro tools. After I turn it on, the triton seams to sync up fine but after about 4-5 seconds of recording I get the -9129 and the recording halts. It seems whenever I do anything with midi this happens. It's very frustrating as I can't get anything from my triton to pt. As soon as I uncheck my triton from the midi beat clock dialog in pt, pt seams to work smoothly again. any solutions to this???

Also, I have a m-audio uno midi 1x1 adapter that I tried using instead of the usb from the triton and I have the same problem.

Thanks, any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Please start with the steps in the General Troubleshooting link below my signature and post a Sandra report per the info in that thread if you're unable to resolve the problem.

You need a qualified hard drive for storage, recording and playback of your Pro Tools sessions.

A USB drive is not qualified for use with Pro Tools. You will need either a second internal hard drive or a firewire drive.

Thanks for catching that - That drive is a Glyph 320 gig external firewire / usb drive. I didn't realize I had it plugged in via usb but I have switched it with a firewire 400 cable and I'm still having the same exact problem.

Any other ideas?

This is becoming quite frustrating as I am not able to complete or even get halfway through any projects and feel like I've run out of anything to try

Which of the General Troubleshooting steps have you done, specifically?

I need to know so we can start narrowing down what the cause of the problem is - every little detail is important about what you have or have not tried yet.

Hello DigiTechSupt -

So I've tried to go through everything in detail to make sure I was not doing anything incorrectly and have a list of things that I have done to try and get this issue resolved. So far I am STILL having the same issues. I realized that i forgot to mention that I have problems when trying to record midi as well, it's not just when I try to set the midi beat clock. I get this error ( http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread...idi+beat+clock ) and have those similar problems when trying to record via an instrument track using my Triton Extreme. I am very lucky if I can even record one track without getting these buffer errors.

So here's some of the steps I have done since my first post:

- I switched from using usb to firewire 400 with my Glyph 320gig drive. Since I was previously using a mac I reformatted this drive to NTFS and deleted any digidesign database's or files.

- I've disabled all of my startup processes.

- I've disabled all of my device drivers that are not of use ( that I know of ) including wi-fi and onboard sound.

- Deleted Digidesign Databases folders on all of my hard drives

- Update Pace Drivers to the latest drivers

- Removed any usb / firewire drives that were not needed

- I checked but could not find anything to disable raid in my bios

- I've turned my display to "best performance" disabling everything ( so basically it looks like windows server )

- I've stopped all processes that I don't think I needed.

Still no luck at all

Am I missing something?

Thanks for your help - I hope you have a suggestion to try.

Do you still have the AKAI attached? If so, does the problem go away if you remove it?

Have you disabled your network card? Are all drives in DMA mode? Did you disable drive indexing? Did you try using the DPC Latency Checker to see if it indicated any problems? Have you set video hardware acceleration to 'none'?
