Default Operating System Compatibility

Hello. I am running a Pro Tools LE system on Mac OSX. Due to the fact that I do primarily location recordings I was thinking about using a Windows machine to operate pro tools in some cases and the Mac in others. Is this something that I can do easily? Or are their situations where information can be lost and things can be lost in translation? Basically, I was thinking about tracking with one machine, and mixing and editing on another but I wanted to know if anyone knew of any problems that may arise from this.

Thank you

The introduction of PT7 has made the transfer of sessions across OS platforms much easier. Just make sure you select WAV for the audio file format and you should be good to go.

It shouldn't be a problem I just finished doing an album where it was all tracked and edited on a Windows PC and then mixed on a Mac, no issues at all.

If you get MacDrive, a windows app that lets the windows PC read/write to Mac formatted disks, then you could use an external disk formatted for Mac as your pro tools sessions disk and then it'll be really easy to swap between systems.

At least the last two versions of PTLE (7.3 and 7.4) ship with Mac Drive for the PC included as part of the PTLE install options - no additional software or $$ needed. They may have started earlier than 7.3, I just didn't notice it untill then.
