post for the web?
i am working on a short series for the web. i'm just wondering if anyone else around here has done something like this. i work regularly in film and television mixing so i am knowledgeable about mixing for those mediums but have never produced anything that is to be streamed. are there any rules at all? should i just aim to make it sound good compressed as an mp3 on small speakers? any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance, matt |

Re: post for the web?
That's what I tend to do - compressed enough so everything will be audible on crappy speakers, extreme lows rolled and a bit of high-end and vocal mids added to help voice cut through - you could experiment a bit with making some QT files and listen to them on a laptop to see what, if any, elements don't cut through well enough from your main mix. I generally compress and then limit leaving not so much dynamic range (a bit like commercials but not quite so extreme), but making my peak in the -1dbFS range.
