MOTU 828x vs 828mk3 Hybrid

Hey MOTU users,

Other than the obvious difference that one is thunderbolt/usb & the other is firewire/usb, is there any other differences between the 2 units?

You would think that with the 828x being a latter generation unit that there would have been some improvements & upgrades made, but I cannot find any info on that. On the 828x website, it only lists the 828mk3 as a legacy unit if you want to go with firewire...nothing else.

And does anyone know if they fixed the glitch from the older 828 units where they would suddenly play some squealing white noise at full volume that I have read about?

I'm asking cause I'm thinking about buying the 828x

I have the 828x, hooked both my focusrite 8 in boxes into it via adat. I will say I haven't experienced any squealing noises in the few weeks I've been using it. It has been rock solid for me on PC, up to 20 tracks recording at a time. Not sure if this is of any use. If you have any specific questions I'm happy to help. :)
