Default Unable to Deauthorize PT 5.1/Floppy

I am moving to a faster os 9.2 system and need to deauthorize my "Orange Vocoder RTS 1.0". When I insert the floppy and run the "Deauthorize" file, it executes but then exits about 10 seconds later. I can see that the application is running and the floppy is being read. There is no error information or any sort of visible sign that anything is wrong. No errors... nothing... and the plug-in is not deauthorized.

I currently have the plug-in authorized to Pro-Tools LE 5.1 (DIGI 001) and it is OS9. I am using a USB floppy drive (same one I used to authorize it).

I need to be able to deauthorize it on my system so I can then authorize it on my new box. I am at a loss of how I can troubleshoot the issue.

Thank you in advance for any support which can be offered.

Did you install OS X on the same hard drive that OS 9 is on?

No, OSX is not on the machine nor should it be. This is strictly an OS 9 system.

Hi electroztatic,

you have to use a digidesign approved usb floppydrive first. (vst floppy)
Then you must install the original driver for the floppydrive without having it connected to the computer.
Connect the drive to the computer and you´re ready to go.

My 2 cents

regards

Jochen

I am using a Smartdisk VST drive model number FDUSB-M

It is the same floppy drive I used to authorize it

Hi electroztatic,

did you have installed the original vst floppy driver??
Without the driver you can´t authorize or deauthorize under OS 9.

Hope that helps.

Jochen

Hi electroztatic, Just a dumb question but do you have your original floppy disc write enabled ? (the plastic tab on the disc) It must be. Re-install your floppy disc driver. And connect your USB floppy drive directly to the Mac on the back.... Not a USB hub. Disconnect any other USB devices except of course your keyboard and mouse.

Hope this helps.

Still no solution - looks like I am going to loose a bunch of money that I paid for the plug-in.

This is so frustrating.
