Noise Burst in PT 6.1.2 with 002R

I know this has come up before but I haven't seen any answers. I get frequent bursts of distortion in playback. I drop the cursor in the file and hit play- It plays the audio but really distorted. If I stop and replace the cursor, it usually starts fine. Doesn't happen when track is already playing.. Only at the start of play. Doesn't seem to matter where in the file, how many tracks, how many plugs, etc.
I have a 002R, Dual 1G G4/1.25R/ and all internal drives. It's a real annoyance, and if I happen to be monitoring loud, it gets REAL loud when the distortion hits.

I assume you are having the same white noise problem i was having. I posted a thread about it as well a few weeks ago and just resolved the issue last night.

I cant say there is a whole lot I can offer here, as my setup was the 002 mixer on a g3 laptop with a firewire drive.

You definiely have a system more than powerfull enough to handle an LE setup. Really the only thing I can think of with your setup would be the hard drives. What are they? Are you certain they meet the standards? (7200 rpm, less than 10ms seek time, etc) Are they connected via Raid? if so, whats the card?

Run me down some specs if you can.
