Project all of a sudden in 44.1 khz
I have been working on a project in 48khz, all of a sudden it's at 44.1. Everything is pitched and slowed down. Even if I open a backup file, everything is in 44.1 when I'm editing or bouncing...
Other projects load fine. Can I change the settings of my project without converting it (because that wont solve the problem)? |

Re: Project all of a sudden in 44.1 khz
Zero system/interface/OS/PT info given. Likely your interface has changed sample rate, but really, need more info.

Re: Project all of a sudden in 44.1 khz
I'm using Pro Tools 12 (2022.5) on a mac Mini M1, macos 12.1. Genelecs plugged in the output of the Mac Mini.
I have been working on this 48khz project, when I open it now, audio settings on MacOS go to 44,1. Project is all of a sudden on 44,1. All backup-files up to 5 hours of editing ago seem to be on 44,1. Although everything sounded fine until I wanted to bounce the file. |

Re: Project all of a sudden in 44.1 khz
I found a solution! Imported the session into a new 48khz session!

Re: Project all of a sudden in 44.1 khz
Is it 12 or 2022.5? They’re two different animals.
One thing I’ve always done, even though MAC claims “multi client” ability, is not let ANYTHING use my main interface other than Pro Tools. All the non-PT stuff here goes thru a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, leaving the Apollo 8 solely for Pro Tools, and I’m wondering if your MAC is taking it upon itself to reset your sample rate for apps outside of Pro Tools? Project all of a sudden in 44.1 khz
As discovered, it’s not impossible to open a session at the wrong sample rate. This has happened to me twice. Once when I switched a project to use Dante Virtual Soundcard, and once when attempting to use an off-brand AES interface that didn’t work above 48K. If the session file subsequently gets saved at the wrong rate, it’ll always open at the wrong rate. The solution is to trick the sample rate back again like how it went wrong, or to import everything into a new session at the correct rate without sample rate conversion.

Yeah I’ve had this happen to me once as well, when I was moving between rigs. Don’t quite know what I did and it hasn’t happened since, so …
