2020.3 Quicktime 32 bit error???
Hmm..Catalina on a 2017 iMac 4.2. All the latest updates.. Why this message when importing a ProRes 422 video with audio? Video works great, but I'd kinda like my Audio sync reference....
"Cannot import Quicktime Audio because this version ProTools relies on 32-bit QuickTimeComponents that are not available with this OS. Please see Avid.com for the latest compatibility information"

Not all video formats are supported on Catalina

Yup! That's why I waited until ProRes 422 was blessed.. What's weird is that the video works totally fine, but it won't import the embedded audio from it.. that seems really odd to me as ProRes 422 is a main standard video format.

It was in the release notes, video support only for some codecs

Re: 2020.3 Quicktime 32 bit error???
yup! So.this is what's confusing me, based on the release notes at this link and under the Catalina heading... I'm reading this as the h.264 is the one where 'picture will import, but audio will not". If the case is that Audio will not import from ANY of these codecs under Catalina, it should say that. SOOO.. what's a workaround for getting that audio off the Prores, etc Master? I do have my AAF or OMF from my editors, but I sure do like a reference :)
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...-11&popup=true Supported Codecs macOS Catalina (2020.3 and above) QuickTime (MOV/MP4/M4V Import/Playback) DNxHR DNxHD Apple ProRes 422 (including HQ, LT, Proxy) H.264 (c,e) (CFR only) Note: Picture will import, but audio will not.

Quote:
http://www.shutterencoder.com/en/ Drop your movie into it, select WAV under Choose Function, choose 16 or 24 bit, press Start Function. NOTE: it seems like Mix Audio Tracks is the correct setting if the audio on the movie is already stereo.
