Re: 12.5 : No way, no way, no way
My English is not good enough to guess what you mean. It's a bit confusing. You seem angry or ironic. It is not normal to ask some opportunities equivalent to the competition? I prefer Pro Tools, but I want less limitation. I can spend for HD, but I do not want the Avid hadware (or Steinberg). So there is a problem, and I'm not the only one with this problem.

Re: 12.5 : No way, no way, no way
I'll just say that you knew those limits when you bought the system. They haven't changed. If 192 floats your boat, there are some trade offs that you have to make, some based on your computer, and some based on the software that you choose. Most of us just want our tool to work as advertised.
I'm trying to provide steady pressure for Avid to get the big issues fixed. I know that it's possible if they focus on it. In the meantime, I'm working a lot more with Logic. It feels better now that I can use my Avid hardware, thanks to someone who suggested leaving the Avid Core Audio manager open. Best of luck to you. Steve

Re: 12.5 : No way, no way, no way
while this thread seems to have gone off at a tangent to what the original poster was intending, here is my take.
it seems there are a number of factors at play here: 1. avid have a commitment to release new versions (not updates) to subscribers. 2. avid want monthly & annual payments to increase their steady cashflow. 3. avid do not care about those customers that have already fully purchased their hardware/software and who have no intention of "subscribing" to further payment plans. 4. avid will only include bug fixes in newer versions so that the customer is forced to upgrade, or subscribe to the payment plan. 5. avid do not consider ideascale a "moneymaker". 6. avid considers their only responsibility is to their shareholders, not their customers. (a happy customer is not a corporate statistic) 7. avid want more and more systems to become obsolete, so that it forces purchase of newer systems that have payment plans rather than an outright purchase. this is the modus operandi of the "modern" corporation unfortunately. even when there are passionate and enthusiastic employees, they have to bow to the corporate mindset or get fired. programming resources are probably all focused on the new version rather than bugfixes. the only way for customers to fight against this is to boycott all purchases, and cancel all payments to such corporations until they change their ways. it's already happening, as evidenced by avid's ever-plummeting stock prices: Avid Stock Prices Last edited by controlfader; 03-24-2016 at 12:58 PM. |

Re: 12.5 : No way, no way, no way
Thank you, Ext. Mixing. that's what I'll do. Adapt its way of working. I prefer PT to record and export AFF does not allow 32-bit ... so I do not have a choice.
But, as you know, we do not look all that when buying or making the update. I'm on Pro Tools since version 7 (then with Haware Digidesin) and I buy the update until today.

Re: 12.5 : No way, no way, no way
This is not wrong, but it's a great war for simple users. However, each user may be disappointed to look elsewhere for himself. And the accumulation of lost customers should be a warning. We are far from the music ....

Re: 12.5 : No way, no way, no way
It sounds like you would rather use Reaper, or Fruity Loops.

Re: 12.5 : No way, no way, no way
Wouldn't use a HP if you paid me. QuickTime fine with Win10 Pro, as is everything apart from Cyberduck.

Re: 12.5 : No way, no way, no way
I Reaper and Cubase 8.5, but I prefer Pro Tools anyway, despite irritants. If I had the patience to convert me, I think I would choose Reaper. I like their philosophy. Maybe someday....
If Avid forced to spend even for little things!
