Anyone using the Asus P4B533-E with XP & 5.3.1
If so could you please post your settings and results. I can't get mine to record into Protools. Everything is set up and installed, but no signal can enter protools mixer. Thanks

Re: Anyone using the Asus P4B533-E with XP & 5.3.1
I run an Asus P4b266 but i havent configured my system properly yet. I'm still ironing our bugs but I'll let you know if experience the same problem. Do you run any other soundcards? I know I may have to remove my standard card in order for my board to communicate with the digi card properly.

Re: Anyone using the Asus P4B533-E with XP & 5.3.1
I disabled the onboard SND,as well as the other stuffs like IEEE/1394 and some services, and digi card is on its own IRQ 10, but every time I launch Protools, my processes go up to 100% and I get the 6042 error, PCI bus is too busy to communicate with DAE.So I can't use protools on XP no matter what I tried, and believe me I tried everything. Let me know what you come up with. Thanks

Re: Anyone using the Asus P4B533-E with XP & 5.3.1
Thanks the Caine, I'm glad things are working out for you, but I still have no luck, I've been stuck since the release of 5.3.1. When I launch Protools, my CPU usage goes up to 100% and I can't do a thing because I get the 6042 error saying that the PCI Bus is too busy to communicate with DAE. I hope Digi or someone on the DUC comes up with a solution because I'm not alone on this one, at least one other user has the same problem. Good luck though and happy recording

Re: Anyone using the Asus P4B533-E with XP & 5.3.1
Hello once again DIGI and fellow musicians I tried everything possible, I even disabled every services and processes and hardware that I'm allowed to, but launching Protools still causes my CPU usage to go to 100%. I'm totally frustrated and I don't know what else to do, so Please help me

Re: Anyone using the Asus P4B533-E with XP & 5.3.1
I think I would change the name of this thread to
Another -6042 PCI bus to busy error, Help! Serveral other people have had the same problem. One was Roy Howell but he got so frustrated with it that he deleted his thread on 6042 error. Here is one 6042 thread that's still around but there are others: -6042 error, PCI bus too busy for DAE.. Here's another: -6042 is driving me InSaNe! Not sure anyone has found the solution yet but Roy thought it was his video card causing the problem. jblaty thought it was the mother board and even replaced it saying that was it but who knows. Ask digi tech suppport what they think. I suggestd disabling the interrupt to the video card. Not saying to disable the devices just the assignment of the interrupt in the BIOS. Try taking out the network card too, if any. I have a ABIT KR7A-133 MOBO with VIA VT8366 chip set and have had no problems so far with XP, KOW. |

Re: Anyone using the Asus P4B533-E with XP & 5.3.1
Thanks swaphappy, I checked that link and as you mentioned noone has a fix for the 6042 error, but what I'm looking for is why is it that my CPU usage goes up to the roof whenever I launch protools eventhough i had all the other hardware and devices desibled. That's my big question. Hope someone can help me with it.
