HOW MUCH RAM
Currently I have 512 ram, xp. I was wondering if 1gb ram would make much difference. I have done all of the tweaks in xp in the duc. I am currently getting a audio drive to run @ 7200. My os runs @ 7200, but the drive I have in there now is at 5400. I get cpu errors 91something 9182 not sure, but it says to change the buffer and I do and it works some the stops. I have a P3BF 440bx @ 900mhz. It should have no problems I used the 5.1 without a glich. It could just be better. The ram, The drive, seems like a obvious choice. Any advice would be great.
Thanks in Advance, RDOG |

Re: HOW MUCH RAM
512 Ram should be enough.
But the 5400 rpm drive could be a problem especially if the it doesn't support DMA. Is DMA enable for both your drives? The DMA tweak is on page 4 of the Pro Tools LE 5.3.1 Addendum. |

Re: HOW MUCH RAM
right click on MY COMPUTER, select properties, hardware, device manager, then go to IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, expand it, right click on primary IDE channel and select properties, on the advanced settings tab there is the DMA stuff.

Re: HOW MUCH RAM
From page 4 of the Pro Tools LE 5.3.1 Addendum.
(Page 8 if your looking at the acrobat page counter.) 1 Right-click My Computer, and choose Properties. 2 Select the Hardware tab. 3 Click the Device Manager button. 4 Locate and double-click the device for your IDE/ATA controller. 5 In the IDE/ATA Controller Properties dialog, click the Advanced Settings tab. 6 Under Transfer mode, select DMA Transfer mode, if available, and click OK. 7 Repeat for any additional IDE/ATA drives. 8 Click OK to close the Device Manager dialog. 9 Close the System control panel. |

Re: HOW MUCH RAM
I must be crazy but there is no advance setting tab in the IDE/ATA cotroller properties. Or under the the rest of the drives. The only advance setting i can find is to uninstall the driver. Should I do this?
