Default Jerky Quicktime playback in PT9

Shouldn't we be getting a thread going on jerky QT playback in 9? I miss seeing it on the front page.

8.0.1 was the last stable version for quicktime playback (for me at least). Am I correct to assume that hardware like the Intensity corrects jerky playback for 9?

The last thread I saw about this Avid said the ball is in Apple's court which doesn't make any sense to me since it became jerky after a Pro Tools upgrade, not an OS upgrade. I would love to get more input from Avid on this again.

Apparently Nuendo 5 is having similar problems that weren't there in Nuendo 4. Think this is on Windows and Mac however, and Steinberg seem to have a fix in the works.

They might have a problem, but at least they ACKNOWLEDGE and FIX it (nudge nudge, wink wink - Avid)

You may say it's a problem with Mac OS 10.6 - but how come 7.4.2 worked fine on the same OS? Answers on a post card.

That is correct - the upgrade in Pro Tools was to conform to newer Quicktime specs (required on our part for future compatibility) which exposed the problem.

My quicktime issues were completely solved after 8.0.4, just to throw my hat in to the ring.

Odd that 8.0.4 fixed them but PT9 is broken again.

It just seems like a weird trade off. Jerky playback for the future vs. solid playback for the now.
