The most likely cause of the hang is actually not the plugin you see on the screen but the next one Pro Tools is trying to load. Sometimes it will be the one on the screen. Sometimes (more rarely) an earlier plugin might cause a hang if it's badly corrupted memory or is thrashing the system. If the suspect plugin is a third party plugin then more reason to suspect it.

You can look at the Plug-Ins directory listing (ls -d1 *) to often guess the next plugin that will load. Start by moving that plugin and the one that was listed on the screen out of the plugin folder. Trash prefs and restart Pro Tools. Actually you should already have trashed prefs. Use Pete Gates free PT Prefs program and read the optimization and troubleshooting info under "help us help you" up the top of every web page. You need to be familiar with that, it would have avoided some time wasting here.

The Pro Tools log file might catch the next plugin loading name, they logs are just text files and are in ~/Library/Logs/Avid/Pro_Tools_*

If moving those two plugins out does not work then move *all* .aaxplugin files out of the plugin folder, restart pro tools (it will add back the core plugins automatically), and check that is working OK. Then reinstall other plugins from their latest claimed compatible installers. Testing as you go.

To open Protools with Rosetta (For Apple Silicon systems only)

Open the Finder and go to your Applications folder.
Right-Click on Pro Tools.
Click on “Get Info”
Tick “Open using Rosetta.”
Once completed, restart your recording software then you should be all set.

You can do the same steps (except untick "Open using Rosetta") to go back to running in native Apple Silicon mode.
