Default HELP please - Plug-in Automation Pops

All,

I'm running Pro Tools 2021 on a Mac

I inserted a UAD Massenburg MDWEQ5 to provide deep notches at 6k and 12k for the duration of less than a second. Upon getting to the start point of the flu-in engaging there is a noticeable thump.

I can't send the client this mix version with this happening and I'm hoping someone is monitoring this thread as a I have a deliverable today.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid you need to update to MDWEQ6 to get support for your system

This is a UAD plugin being used in Pro Tools. I have the same EQ on other tracks in this session without any issue. This I feel is the Automation itself. I've tested it without Automation and its fine

I don't know about UAD, sorry, but I could guess if you change to larger playback buffer it may fix your issue.

Thanks again for the help. I thought of that but I was already at 1024
Somewhere online I saw other posts about this issue but no clear cut resolution. It seems to be the entry point.

UAD DSP is really outside scope of PT, so maybe you need to read some UAD manuals?

Are you taking the plugin in and out of bypass? Or is it in the whole time and you're just automating those bands down and back? Definitely do that instead of bypass. If you're already bringing the bands down you might need to ease into it just a little to avoid an automation cliff.

Hi,

Just to recap, I AM using Pro Tools 2021.10.0 and I am only using the UAD Plugin, I am not using my UAD interfaces DSP. Yes, the Massenburg plugin is basically Bypassed thought the entire sone except for one second. In that one second I have a notch filter at 6k and at 12k to eliminate (as best I can) and extraneous noise in the recording. The frequencies I selected are helping but yes, when it comes out of bypass there is an obvious Thump and almost a pause in the entire mix.

Any ideas would help me. I appreciate it!

Well I did give you an idea and it was to not do what you're doing.

Other option is to do it with an Audiosuite and render it. Or even Clip EQ.

Or to put that one clip on a separate track and not use the bypass. The latency with UAD plugs makes bypass automation hit and miss, and best avoided.
