Default CPU error messages

Hello everyone,

I have recently upgraded my Pro-Tools software to 7.3.1, and I upgraded my Mac software from Panther to Tiger 10.4.10.

My system is now running incredibly slow when I run Pro Tools, and I am receiving the following error messages:

1. CPU usage is holding off USB audio. Remove some plug ins, delete some tracks, or increase the Hardware Buffer size -9136

2. You are running out of CPU power. Remove some RTAS plug ins or increase the CPU usage limit in the Playback Engine Dialoge -9128

This happens on every session, even with one track with no plug ins. I have increased the Hardware Buffer size, and the CPU usage limit, but nothing changes. Like I said, this was not an issue before I upgraded. Please Help!!
Thanks

Make sure any CPU intensive programs, like Bluetooth and Airport, are turned off. Also, in case you haven't done it, do the Combo update from the Digi site.

I have updated to the latest 7.3.1cs5 version, and I always close all applications including airport and bluetooth before running Pro Tools. Is there anything else I could do?

Thanks

Have you tried all the steps in the OS X Setup and General Troubleshooting thread yet?

You may want to look at the Help us help you thread as well - we will need more specific info about your system configuration to be able to troubleshoot further.

I forgot to include my setup...

Powerbook G4 version 10.4.10
Processor- 1.33GHz Power PC
Memory- 512 MB DDR SDRAM--(Could this affect the CPU? I read that 1GB of RAM is recommended)

For my external Hard drive:
Lacie FA Porsche
Firewire- 400Mbits/sec
rpm- 5400 (Could this affect the performance of the CPU? I read that 7200rpm is recommended)

I still never had an issue with this before I upgraded to Pro Tools 7.3.1, and upgraded from Panther to Tiger. I have tried everything that has been recommended, and am wondering if there is anything else I could do?
Thanks

512mb of RAM is definitely not enough - 768mb is the minimum and most people see the best performance with 2GB or more.

Also, a 5400rpm drive is not qualified for use with Pro Tools. I don't think it's a factor in the problems you're having, but you want to consider getting a fully qualified drive.
