Default Pops and clicks with RTAS plug ins

Hi.
I'm having random pops and clicks during playback when using RTAS plug ins. I've tried all the common procedures and advices with no results. The problem increases with smaller buffer sizes. This is happening with the several new HD systems we installed.
Tried with 1,2,3 and 4 processors in the PT preferences. I've trashed all the preferences. I've reseted the memory. I'm using 64 voices/2 DSPs.

Our system are:

PT 7.3.1 cs4
HD2 PCIe
Mac Pro 2 x 2 Ghz Dual COre Intel Xeon w/3Gb RAm
96 or 192
SYNC
ADVC-110
Machine control
Waves Native

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Do you have the "allow RTAS errors without stopping playback" option enabled on the playback settings? If you remove that option, instead of clicking the system will stop playback at first error so you know your system cannot handle the RTAS load. This is how it was done before PT7, the pops are relatively new phenomenon Apparently loads of LE people were asking for this feature and now they have it.

As far as I know no LE users where asking for this and indeed we have pleaded with Digi to at the very minimum change the as installed default setting to "Off" Presumably this was someone's on Digis engineerings staffs good idea....Its not a bad Idea-it just need to be turned of by default.

Although I can't imagine under what circumstances it would be desirable to have pops and clicks in your audio.

I have this problem with RTAS /clicks and pops. You could try to disable QuickPunch and see what happens ...

You say You changed the number of processors in the preferences?

I changed them in the playback engine. To 1 processor/99%.

That´s what made the clicks and pops go away in my system, especially concerning Native Instruments VIs.

Sorry, I meant in the playback engine. I haven't tried yet to put at 99%. Let's see if it works...
Thanks

How many tracks are in your session? What type and number of drives are you using? Which specific plug-ins are you using and how many are in the session? Have you verified that all plug-ins are up to date and compatible with Pro Tools?
