Default edit problem with cursor

i have a problem when i used to edit before if i pressed the down arrow on my keyboard it used to move down the cursor to the track below it (which is what i wanted), now it's going back to the start of the timeline (and highlighting the region) or at least where ive put the timeline marker (blue thing).i guess ive messed with the preferences at some point and dont know how to fix it

sorry for the lack of pro tools lingo but if anyone can understand me and knows how the fix the problem i'd be very greatful

Change the session start time in the Session Setup Window to anything except 00:00:00:00

Try P and the key below P ( whatever that is for you). Does that do what your looking for? ( might have to be in command focus for that)

Sorry, I didn't read your post correctly, it sounds like you haven't got Command Focus enabled -- it's the "a..z" button at the upper left quadrant of the Edit Window.

Pay attention to Rail and use the "P" key to move the curser up. Use the colon/semicolon key to move the curser down.
